Was so honored last night to have been able to present “The WIZO Gevurah award” to Noam Gershony, an IDF pilot of Apachee helicopter, who in the Lebanon war of 2006 was critically injured when his helicopter collided with another, killing his co-pilot and leaving Noam with every bone in his body broken. After completing his very long rehabilitation, he began playing wheelchair tennis and surfing. In 2012, Gershony won the first Olympic Gold Medal for Israel in Tennis Paralympics in London.
It was a great honor for me to have been able to present him with this Award, which acknowledges Noam’s great bravery and courage. He decided to live his life to the fullest regardless of his circumstances.
