Tonight we will be sitt …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

Tonight we will be sitting at our much awaited Pesach Seder. Some will be with family and friends and some will be in a somewhere remote location.
In the Haggadah we read about the four sons: the wise son, the wicked son, the simple son, and the son who does not yet know how to ask.
The wise son asks:”What are all the parts of the laws that H”S, our G-d, has commanded you?” And you should explain to him all the laws of Pesach…..
The wicked son asks:”What good is this service to you?” Clearly he is showing a lack of appreciation and connection to his heritage. To this son you should say: “that if he had been in Egypt H”S would of not have saved him and would of not made him a free person.
From here we learn the importance of attitude and how it determines our future.
The wise son wants to have a relationship with G-d, he wants to learn and grow. Sadly the wicked son has no interest whatsoever to forge a relationship with H”S and he is completely indifferent to it.
Chassidut teaches us that at least he is still in the Seder, the Lubavitcher Rebbe said that today we have a fifth son; the one who doesn’t even show up.
To the wicked son, one must teach with love and show him the way by example. One must make G-de relevant in one’s life and teach our children from an early age that they matter to G-d, that He made them with love and purpose, and has a special mission for them in this world.
Chag Sameach and Shabbat Shalom! May this special time bring true freedom to all that oppresses us.
