Today we count the third day of the Omer with “Tiferet Shebe Chesed” (Compassion in Love and Kindness).
True and beautiful love includes empathy and compassion towards the other. Human nature fosters a personal agenda when we love someone else. We usually have expectations and wait for reciprocity in our relationships. This type of love is selfish because we are only thinking in what is there for “me,” if it doesn’t fill my agenda then it’s not worth my effort. True love is expressed even when one gets nothing in return; even when the other doesn’t deserve love. Tiferet is giving even to those who have hurt you when they need help.
This combination of compassion and love is a very powerful one because it can only be activated when we function with our Divine soul, which is 100% selfless and it’s only agenda is to do H”S will.
An example of this type of compassionate love is when we are asked to help someone who wouldn’t even know you are helping him and can’t even thank you.
