Today we count the 38th …

Today we count the 38th day of the Omer with “Tiferet shebe Yesod” (Compassion within Foundation).
One of the biggest questions in the world is why do we have to suffer. Thousands of years have gone by and we have never found an answer for this question.
This combination of sefiras gives us a little understanding of our response to suffering.
If a person would go into a surgery and see a doctor operating on someone and he has never been into a hospital or even seen a doctor, he would think that this person is butchering the patient and he would be outraged. He would not be able to understand that the doctor in reality is saving this person’s life. The same is with H”S ways, we don’t see what is really going on. When a person suffers it is as if life saving surgery is being done on them, but H”S doesn’t want us to perceive it that way. He wants us to be outraged for the suffering of someone else, because it’s precisely this feeling what will generate compassion, mercy, and empathy towards others which is the foundation of being human beings that have the capacity to feel for someone else.
