Today we count the 38th day of the Omer with “Tiferet Shebe Yesod” (Compassion within Bonding).
For compassion to be effective we really need to work on our empathy. We need to look and feel the other from his or her perspective. When we judge others according to our way of looking at life and how we feel and experience it, we cannot tap into this magical emotion of compassion. Tiferet is more than love, because love is based on if the other deserves or not, Tiferet on the other hand, is not based on being deserving. We do for another even if he or she is not deserving. We give of ourselves because this is the G-dly thing to do. H”S is always giving us what we need no matter what.
When we are able to operate within this combination of compassion and bonding what we are doing is that we are making the connection between us, the other, and G-d.
