Today we count the 31st …

Today we count the 31st day of the Omer with “Tiferet shebe Hod” (Mercy within Humility).
Tiferet, as we know means mercy, compassion, harmony and Hod means humility. These two sefiras combined teach us to give even if the other person is not deserving of our kindness. It allows us to not judge others and to feel empathy for them. It takes us out of our comfort zone and it shows us that to help someone else it has to be under their needs and not ours. For example: it is easier to just give a dollar to a homeless person, this is Chesed (kindness), Tiferet shebe Hod is to help that person get back on their feet. Although this might not be something doable for many of us, it’s not impossible. I’ve seen very compassionate people give of their time to bring dignity to others. Like being a volunteer at a soup kitchen, school, mentoring program, etc… by giving of your time to give someone else back the strength they need in life. When we show someone else that we believe in them, because our humility allows us to see the good they have and our compassion shows them the way, we can transform a whole world.
