This phenomenon is a merciful way in which H”S teaches us lessons in life. Every interaction in your life is showing you something about yourself.
I know that it is very difficult to acknowledge our flaws and it is easier to point fingers at someone else. It is difficult to be accountable and take responsibility for our actions.
When something bothers you a lot ask yourself: “in which way do I exhibit this same behavior, maybe in a different way? An example of this could be that it bothers you when others ask questions about your life, but at the same time you want to know everything about others lives.
The same applies for positive things. When we see the beauty in others we also have it ourselves.
As Rabbi Simon Jacobson puts it: “you are what you see, and you see what you are.”
Try today to be aware of a positive experience and identify how that goodness is embodied in you.
Select a negative experience and identify how this reflects a negative trait in you.
