Our sages teach us that when we have the opportunity to do a Mitzvah and bring goodness to this world we should run and do it. The reason for this is that if you don’t do it the instant will be gone forever.
The good that was intended to come to the world will come regardless if you bring it in or someone else will, but your personal opportunity to be the one to have brought it at that specific moment in time will be lost. “The reward of a Mitzvah (good deed) is another mitzvah”, when we do a mitzvah another mitzvah will come your way enrolling you in a life of love and kindness.
