“Then the priest …

“Then the priest shall take off his garments and put on other garments and carry forth the ashes out of the camp unto a pure place.”(Vayikra 6:4)
Rabbi Samson Hirsch commented that the taking out of the ashes that remained on the Altar from the previous day represents the notion that each new Day the Torah mission must be accomplished afresh.
Every day should be looked as something new.
The difference between children and adults when going to sleep is huge. Children usually don’t want to go to sleep, they feel there is so much more to do. They have FOMO (fear of missing out). Adults on the other hand can’t wait to go to sleep, they are tired and want to rest. For a child every encounter is new and exciting, as adults we should train our minds to look at life in this way.
“Carry forth the ashes out of the camp.” Every trace of yesterday’s sacrifice is to be removed from the Altar, so the service of the new Day can be started in a fresh new way. We can come to understand the importance of the Kohen changing his garments. In Chassidut the garments represent our thought, speech, and actions. The past is not to be forgotten, but it should only serve as a catalyst to help us improve our ways in the new today.
