The seventh plague was …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

The seventh plague was Hail and Fire. At this moment Pharaoh said to Moshe: “Entreat the Lord that there be no more mighty thunderings and Hail;and I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer.” (Shemot 9:28)
Rabbi Yeruchem Levovitz commented that Pharaoh did mean that he would let the Children of Israel go.
He sincerely meant what he said, the influence of the plagues had made a change in him. The problem was that immediately after the plague was removed he completely forgot what he said and his good intentions.
How many of us don’t fall into this trap? At a moment of great suffering and a lot of pressure we make promises that we later on don’t keep.
If you find yourself in a moment like this make resolutions that you can keep, always remember to say “Blin Neder” (without promising), and remember them. The whole purpose of the plagues was to create change, if there is no change life will repeat itself.
