Shavuah Tov!hope you had a meaningful and beautiful Rosh Hashana. Wishing everyone a very very productive week. Today we count the fourth of the Ten days of Teshuvah, six more days until Yom Kipur.
During these special days we should be working to return to our essence. “Teshuvah” really means to “return” and it implies that there is a part of us that is healthy, pure, and good. As we say in the morning prayers:”the soul that you gave me is pure…”
The Ramak (Rabbi Moshe Cordovero of Tzfat 16th century), suggests that the best way to return to our pure essence is to make an accounting every day of these ten days of our character traits (sefiros: love and kindness, discipline/justice,mercy/balance,endurance/resilience, humility, bonding, and dignity/majesty. To be able to do it we need to be honest with ourselves and look at our behavior towards others. This “Gates of Teshuvah” will enable us to access the channels of Divine energy that go into creation, and of course, into the soul.
The outcome depends on how much you are willing to invest the effort and time to accomplish the ability to connect to the purest and holiest part of yourself.
