Shavuah Tov!!! Wishing …

Shavuah Tov!!! Wishing everyone a blessed week. King Salomon begins his philosophic work, Kohelet (Ecclesiastes), with the statement that “Everything is a nothingness of nothingness,” and then it follows by a question “what remainder is there for a person after all the efforts he exerts under the sun?”
If all our efforts don’t produce something that deserves to be considered an ultimate achievement, then life is nothing but one huge futility. What King Salomon indicates is that if everything we do is geared only towards achievements “under the sun,” of this world (material pursuits), then life is pointless. For life to be meaningful, there must be an ultimate meaningful goal.
If you build the most incredible super jet created with the most modern mechanisms that will bring a person to its destination with super sonic speed that is amazing, but if there is no destination this most advanced super jet would be worthless. Clearly then, one must begin by delineating a goal in life.
