Shavuah Tov! I really hope that you all had a meaningful and beautiful Passover.
Today we count the eighth day of the Omer with “Chesed shebe Gevura” (love and kindness within discipline). The second week of the Omer we will explore every aspect within Discipline.
Gevura is the conduit to express our love. It is like a laser beam which concentrates and focuses on the point.
The combination of these two sefiras in this order teaches us that when we need to discipline someone we must do it from a place of love, our whole purpose of our “din” (judgement) must be for the only purpose to help that person be the best they can be.
Specially when we are disciplining our children, we must always keep in mind that we are doing it out of love so they can flourish and know that we want the best for them.
In other words, to discipline doesn’t mean to take revenge, it’s the opposite, to discipline is to say indirectly: “Because I love you, I see that your behavior will harm you and I don’t want you to suffer. I want to help you develop into the best version of yourself.”
