This week’s Parasha “Beha’aloscha”(when you fire up the lamps), talks about H”S commandment to Moshe to say to Aharon to light the Menorah.
We are taught in proverbs that “Man’s soul is a lamp of G-d”, that the soul is a part of and is connected with G-d.
The Ba’al Shem Tov’s mission inlife was to teach that everyone without exception is connected with G-d, and everyone of us has a switch inside, which if searched for will be found.
And this message is conveyed by the opening of this Torah portion, where G-d instructs Aharon to “to fire up (beha’aloscha) the lamps.” Firing up the lamps represents finding the switch within each one of us, igniting the fiery love of G-d which lies dormant in the soul.
And Aharon the priest represents the leaders of every generation who are empowered by H”S to help us find that switch and connect to his own internal spiritual “power house.”
Although we have people around us who constantly are inspiring us to reach our inner essence and live up to it, it is our job to work on keeping ourselves connected and inspired and G-d willing in this way we should also strive to become lamplighters.
