Our Jewish Birthday is …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

Our Jewish Birthday is determined by the lunar calendar. Today the 19th of Tevet I celebrate my Jewish Birthday, which fell on the 9th of January on 1969.
On our Jewish Birthday our Mazal is very strong. Mazal can mean luck which is connected to our constellation, but more profoundly and in Chassidic thought it means that part of your soul which is connected above and trickles down, so today that part of me is more powerful and felt.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe set a campaign in which he encouraged people to celebrate their Jewish Birthdays with introspection and more gratefulness for what life really means, we should give extra tzedakah on that special day, pray extra Tehilim and learn extra Torah, do more acts of kindness and even adopt a new mitzvah. The Shabbat before the birthday man and boys over the age of 13 are called to the Torah for an Alya (ascend). Our chapter of Tehillim changes, for example I just turned 48 so now my psalm is 49. And on the day of our Jewish Birthday we should give blessings to our family and friends and anyone in need because we are in a very auspicious day of being connected above.
So I want to take this opportunity today to give you a blessing: “May H”S bless all of you with perfect health and may you have clear minds to be at peace with everything and everyone around you, may you live a life worth living which brings you much joy and content, may you find grace in the eyes of others, may you have abundant parnasah (money) and use it for good in helping others and may you continue “from strength to strength” learning Torah and filling your life with Mitzvahs.
