Once Rabbi Moshe of Lel …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

Once Rabbi Moshe of Lelov was approached by someone who lived in Eretz Israel who was very critical of the land. Rabbi Moshe reproached him and said:” the Torah tells us that the Land is very, very good. Someone finds the good of the Land , when he fulfills the Mishna (Pirkei Avot 4:4) of, “be very, very humble.” The Otzer Chaim cites that when someone has the trait of arrogance, he will not find satisfaction of the Land.
An arrogant person demands that everything should be as he thinks it should be. But a humble person finds it easy to accept things not being the way he would have wished them to be. Humility allows a person to be satisfied and see the beauty of the spiritual dimension of Eretz Israel and feels great joy by having the privilege to live there.
When you look at the good that is all there is to see.
