First of all I want to wish all of you a Rosh Chodesh Tov!!! A good, healthy, abundant, and very happy month of Sivan, the month of the giving of the Torah.
Today we count the 45th day of the Omer with “Tiferet shebe Malchut” (Humility within Kingship).
Zevulun is the tribe that rules the month of Sivan, this tribe was blessed with the passion for life and movement in this world. The tribes of Zevulun and Yizachar made a pact, Zevulun would sail the world and be merchants and Yizachar would sit an learn Torah. Zevulun would take care of Yizachar’s material needs, make sure that they had everything they needed to live and Yizachar would take care of Zevulun’s spiritual needs by learning Torah in their name.
The combination of “Humility within Kingship” allows us to be respectful towards everyone. It gives us the understanding that we are all here to complete each other.
When people judge people who sit and learn, and those who sit and learn judge those who work all day, they have really missed the point. We need both for the sake of our spiritual and material survival. They go hand in hand, one cannot survive without the other.
The astrological sign of the month of Sivan (Gemini)is twins, also it is the only astrological sign that has human beings. Unlike the other tribes, Zevulun is not likened to an animal in either of the blessings he received from Moses or Jacob. This alludes to the fact that the Torah was given for mankind. By sincerely walking in the ways of Torah, by living Torah we elevate ourselves above our own animalistic nature and in truth we come to live a little higher.
