Chol HaMoed Tov!!! Hope …

Chol HaMoed Tov!!! Hope everyone had a beautiful Chag!!! The second night of Pesach we began counting “Sefirat HaOmer.” The Omer was a barley measurement of aproxímate 2 liters that the Jews used to bring as an afternoon offering the second day of Passover. To this the counting of the Omer would follow for the next seven weeks (49 days) refining our emotional attributes till the giving of the Torah on Shavuot.
There are 7 Sefirot (emotional attributes): Chesed (Love and Kindness),Gevura (Discipline/Justice), Tiferet (Mercy/Harmony), Netzach (Persistence/ Strength), Hod (Splendor/Humility), Yesod (Foundation/Bonding) and Malchut (Kingship/Dignity).
This week we count the week of Chesed and everyday we add one of the other sefirot. For example the first day we counted Chesed shebe Chesed (love and kindness within love and kindness),the second day is Gevura shebe Chesed (Discipline within Love and Kindness),and so on.
Today is the second day of the Omer “Gevura shebe Chesed” and we should be refining this midot (character trait) by understanding that for love to be healthy it has to always contain in itself some discipline and boundaries. If there is no Gevura in our Love there can’t be respect and tolerance towards the other.
“Rain is a blessing only when it falls in drops that don’t flood the land.” sometimes we need to take a step back and contain our giving for the benefit of the other.Take a look today at the way in which you love and show your kindness to others. Do you do it on their terms and needs, or does it have to be your way or no way?
Am I sensitive to the needs of others? When I give of myself do I do it for my own benefit and self aggrandizement or do I do it out of selflessness?
