“Tzedakah” …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

“Tzedakah” is the Hebrew word for the acts that we call “charity” in English: giving aid, assistance and money to the poor and needy or to other worthy causes. However, the nature of tzedakah is very different from the idea of charity.
Tzedakah comes from the root word Tzedek, which means righteous, justice….
We don’t give because we feel bad for another person we give because it is the right thing to do and G-d commanded us to give at least 10% max 20% of what we earn. The money we believe is ours is really H”S and we are the managers of His wealth in this world. Our sages teach that if we don’t give the 10% H”S will keep the 90% and let you keep the 10%. There are five levels of Tzedakah, the highest one being the one where you take of your time and effort and teach someone how to earn a living, the second highest is when we give without knowing who we are giving to and the recipient also doesn’t know who is giving, the third level is when the giver knows who he is giving to but the recipient doesn’t know who is giving, the fourth one is when the giver doesn’t know who he is giving to but the recipient knows who is giving and the fifth and lowest level is when both giver and recipient know.
Let’s be generous in the way we give and you’ll see how H”S will send you more.
The more we give the more we have!!!
