Tonight is Shabbat Hagadol (The great Shabbat). Rabbi Peretz from Panama gave a beautiful insight. He said that on the 10th of Nissan, five days before the Jews left Egypt H”S asked the Jews to make the Pascual offering. Each family had to sacrifice a Lamb for H”S, roast it and then they had to eat it and couldn’t leave anything. What is so great about this? We have to understand that in Egypt they used to worship the sheep as a G-d. The Jews were in the 49th degree of impurity and they used to follow many of the Egyptian ways of worship. For the Jews at that moment to have been able to go against what they had been worshipping for the last 210 years took a lot of courage, strength and GREATNESS. Then they circumcised all the men, which they were not doing also for a long time. So these are two of the reasons we call this Shabbat “Hagadol”.
Many miracles followed them after they made this great change in their psyche.
Greatness is to be able to stand up for what G-d wants from us regardless of what the multitude is doing.
Shabbat Shalom!
