Today we count the fourth day of the Omer “Netzach Shebe Chesed”(Endurance in Kindness).
A beautiful story of the Talmud explains this Sefira wonderfully. ” Choni HaMaagal who once saw a farmer planting carob trees. Choni asked him, “how long will it take until these trees grow and bear fruit?” “Seventy years” replied the farmer. “And do you really think that you will still be around in seventy years time to eat the fruit?” Asked Choni. The farmer replied “I came into a world with carob trees which my parents had planted for me. I will plant trees for my children so that they also have carobs to eat”. This kindness last beyond us!!!!
Do something today for your children that will last beyond time. Also appreciate what your parents have done for you that have made a lasting impression and continue it.
