Today we count the 47th …

Today we count the 47th day of the Omer, two more days to go , with “Hod Shebe Malchut” (Humility in Kingship).
The wicked Roman governor Turnus Rufus asked Rabbi Akiva, “If your G-d loves the poor, why does He not feed them?”
Rabbi Akiva answered,”for the purpose of saving us from punishment for our sins from Gehinnom”(Bava Basra 10a).
When we give tzedakah to a poor person, or do some kindness to someone who needs help, we should thank them for giving us the opportunity to do G-d’s work. In order for there to be humility we have to not judge G-d for what it seems to us as an unfair world, for H”S is eternally righteous and just. We cannot know why a person is put in a situation of suffering. We would have to go back to the first day of creation to see what that soul has gone through to be able to understand. Our job is not to make sense of what we perceive ,our job is to do what we are able to do to alleviate the suffering of someone else. This is true humbleness and Dignity.
