Today we count the 13th day of the Omer with “Yesod Shebe Gevura” (Bonding within Discipline).
For there to be unity there must be discipline.
Discipline in the way we perceive our relationships.
People shouldn’t view themselves as competitors or opponents. I find that many marriages sadly fail because the couple can’t seem to see each other as a complement, rather they feel each one is taking away from the other.
I have also seen this between business partners, siblings, parents and children, etc…
The capacity to unite and bond comes from working together, from acknowledging each other’s qualities and strengths and empowering the other to be the best he/she can be.
We are not in this world to run a race and see who gets first to the finish line.
We are here to take care of each other, treat everyone with respect and kindness and restore the world to what it is meant to be. A place of love, peace, unity and majesty.
What a better place to recreate this reality if it’s not at the Shabbat table, when we do Kidush, Hamotzi, and partake of a festive meal together with loved ones or even strangers in unity with one purpose, to serve H”S with joy.
Wishing everyone a Shabbat Shalom
