Today is The 44th Day of the Omer with “Gevurah Shebe Malchut” (Discipline in Kingship).
“If a person sees that bad things happen to him he should examine his actions”(Brachos 5a).
This combination of Sefiras leads a person to realize that everything that happens to him comes from G-d and that the same G-d that put him in that situation will help him get out of it if he recognizes that that is the only way out.
Many years ago my husband and I were going through a rough economic patch and he asked me to stop making such grand Shabbat diners, to cut a little bit in our expenses. I threw my hands up to heaven and looked upward and said “No way, Shabbat is Shabbat, I’m not cutting one bit from it, H”S you have to make sure there is always plenty for Shabbat for my whole intention is You!!! And guess what? Everything turned around.
Make sure to always examine your motivations for your actions and ensure it is not out of pride, but solely for the sake of Heaven.
Live a little higher
