Today is the 18th day of the Omer “Netzach Shebe Tiferet” (Endurance/Resilience in Compassion).
Also today is Yom Hazikaron, it’s the day we remember 23,477 fallen soldiers and victims of terror in Israel. As Americans know it as Memorial Day. In Israel we remember by stopping everything we do at 11:00 am Israel time for one minute. The whole highway stops and stands still, wherever you are people stop and keep a moment of silence. We go and visit Mount Hertzel where the soldiers are buried and also other cemeteries where fallen victims of terror have been laid to rest. We don’t make BBQ’s or go to the beach and have sales. Instead in Israel we feel the pain because it is everyone’s pain.
Netzach is the ability to never give up. To be able to stand up again and again no matter how many times we fall down. Tiferet is Compassion, the IDF is the most humane and compassionate army there is. Even though the press and hateful individuals have tried to demonize and make them inhuman that can’t be farther from the truth. They are selfless and are willing to give their young lives so we can be safe and have a better life. To all the bereaved parents, siblings, spouses, children, friends may you be strong and thank you, your loss is not in vain.
Today is also the 18th day of the Omer. The #18 is “Chai” (life)!!!!! Am Israel Chai!!!! Israel Lives Forever
