Today in history, the 10th of Shevat 68 years ago Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson passed away and one year later the Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson, his son in law became The Rebbe.
One of The Rebbes teachings during his inaugural address 67 years ago said “If you want to love G-d, you need to love people.”
Love of G-d, love of Torah, and love of our fellow are bound up with one another, so much so that they are all one.
Only when you love your fellow as yourself are you able to love G-d, who transcends the world and is the master of all things. For this reason The Rebbe relinquished his own physical and even spiritual interests out of love for the Jewish people and the world.
Thank G-d for these two luminaries that were sent to this earthly abode to help us connect to H”S, saving thousands and thousands of Jewish souls from assimilation and disconnection.
