This short Pasuk gives us a huge insight on marriage. Parasha Chayei Sarah goes into very lengthy details to record Yitzchak and Rivkah’s Shiduch (match). Not only it shows us how G-d had them predestined but it also gives us some clarity on how the courtship in a healthy relationship should be. First Yitzhak takes her into his mother’s tent. There were three miracles that happened in Sarah’s lifetime: her Shabbat candles would burn from Friday to Friday, her dough would always multiply and the Challahs would stay fresh and the clouds of glory would always be on top of her tent protecting her. When Rivkah came in all these three miracles continued. Then it says:”he took her, she became his wife and then he LOVED her. What the Pasuk is telling us is that love comes after two people commit to each other. It is that commitment and day to day living that creates love. When two people care and are kind to each other this will create an unbreakable
bond.
This holds also true in our relationship to G-d. First we have to want Him, then we have to know Him ( by learning His supernal wisdom and will in His Torah and keeping Mitzvahs) and then we will be able to Love Him.
Shabbat Shalom
