These week has been a heartbreaking one. With the news of the terrorist attack in the airport in Istanbul and the last two days have been horrific in Israel with the senseless murder of Hallel, a 13 year old girl full of dreams whose life was taken well too soon by a Palestinian terrorist in her home while she was sleeping. Two people were stabbed in Naharya and today a Jewish family was attacked by fire and the father was killed leaving his wife and children badly wounded.
This caption by Golda Meir says everything. Jews love life, our whole purpose in this world is to do Tikun Olam (Fix the world). To be lamp lighters and bring light where there is darkness. To love our fellow like ourselves. We pursue peace and live by that ideal.
Today when you light your Shabbat candles and you usher in the Shabbat, lets pray for the well being of all those hurting this week and for the safety of everyone.
