The third plague that G-d sent to Egypt was the plague of LICE. It came from the dust and it was everywhere. Lice are tiny insects that attach to animal or ones hair and suck your blood. They take and never give anything in return. This plague is characterized by unhealthy submission.
“Submission” is an attribute that can be healthy or unhealthy; productive or destructive. The ability to surrender one’s EGO to G-d’s will is the foundation of spiritual growth. It allows us to be humble and acknowledge our wrongdoings and make changes.
The Egyptians of the times of the Exodus exercised an unhealthy submission in which they crushed the spirit of the Jewish slaves by treating them as worthless creatures, sucking the blood out of them and not giving anything in return.
Depression is a force that has that effect on the person it attaches itself to. It sucks away all the life force, vitality and it demoralizes him/her by giving the perception of the self as useless and low.
Everyone should know that they are created in the image of G-d to come to this world to cause a positive effect and we all have something to take and learn from others and something to give and teach to others.
