The Talmud (Shabbos 30b) tells us that all blessings of the End of Days, are manifest in some way even today.
Shabbat is another name for Heaven. Even now we refer to it as a semblance of the World to Come, because we celebrate it only one day a week. In the future, when joy will be constant, the World to Come will be known as “The Day That Is Always Shabbat.”
It is here and now that we are given this huge privilege and opportunity to transform the world by being partners with H”S in this endeavor.
Our ultimate aim is to transform earth into G-d’s dwelling place, but just as H”S defines His creation in terms of the week, so too our creation is determined by the week. For six days our every deed helps build G-d’s home down here. Then Shabbat comes and tells us: “Children, stop. You have met this week’s quota and I will come and dwell with you. For more than 24 hours we will celebrate together, a Father and His children in a Divine embrace!”
