The “Shamash̶ …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

The “Shamash” is the Candle that stands in the middle of the Menorah and it doesn’t count as one of the eight candles lit on Chanukah.
Why doesn’t he count?
This candle is the one that lights all the others. And it stands on a higher level and alone.
“It is lonely at the top!” There always has to be an individual that stands in a higher level than the rest. It can be a teacher, a Rabbi, a parent, a boss, etc… these very special people in our lives live their lives as examples to others. Their standards are kept high. They say what they mean and they mean what they say. Their thought, speech and actions are aligned and their raison d’etre is to light the way for others, standing humbly at one side while others shine.
Thank you to all the special Shamash in my life who have raised me up.
