The Megillah of Esther, …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

The Megillah of Esther, which is read every Purim and everyone has the obligation to listen to it twice, in a superficial level tells us the story of how the Jewish people were going to be killed by the wicked Haman and how they were saved by Queen Esther. The Megillah has layers and layers that go very deep into understanding the journey of a Jew in this world and his relationship to G-d. The name of G-d is not mentioned once through the whole reading and everything seems that what is happening is by chance. The word Purim comes from Pur, which means lots ( like a lottery). But the reality is very different. In life nothing is by chance, everything is perfectly put in the right place at the right time. G-d is behind the scenes moving every piece in this game of chance. Haman in reality is His Shliach (messenger) so the Jews can repent and go back to who they are, Queen Esther(our hero) is put in the palace to be the wife of King Ahashberosh ( who has in its letters the hidden name of G-d “Y-H-V-H”) and has to convince him to save her people. The way she approached him is the way that we approach H”S when we need salvation. First she fasts and prays and then she goes to him hoping to find grace in his eyes.Meanwhile, Mordechai is doing his own part by teaching the children Torah in the streets and making everyone do Teshuvah. I could talk hours about the Megillah and it’s meaning, but what is important to note and keep in mind is that nothing is random and you also have a part in your story that you have to play and H”S is moving the strings so your Tikun (correction)can come to fruition. We just have to do what we have to do and the rest is in G-d’s hands.
