“The man Moshe was exceedingly humble, more than any person.”(Bamidbar 12:3)
Moshe Rabbeinu epitomized the character trait of humility.
This didn’t mean that he didn’t accept responsibility to live up to his abilities, taking a stand when needed, confronting challenge after challenge with resolution. Yet he always felt that he was doing what he had to do, he was being the best Moses he could be.
Once someone came to Reb Zusha crying that he couldn’t be like so and so. Reb Zusha said to this person:” in 180 years when I meet my creator, I am not going to be asked: ‘Reb Zusha why weren’t you like Moses, they are going to ask me,Reb Zusha why weren’t you Reb Zusha?”
The Shalah HaKodesh z’l, observed that of all of Moshe’s virtues , the one that The Torah chose to highlight his HUMILITY. Harav Chaim Volozhiner,z’l added that Humility is the key to acquire all other positive character traits , and in general to all success indeed.
Live up to who you are, you don’t need to achieve perfection, that is not the goal in life, the goal is to live a little higher today than what you did yesterday, strive to reach your personal potential, and once you have strive to reach your new potential. Just be the best you can be at the moment you are in.
