The Hebrew word for lov …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

The Hebrew word for love is AHAVA which comes from “Hav”. Hav means to give. You can only love when you give. The best example I can find is when you take care of a baby. You have to give 100% of yourself by feeding, changing, soothing, burping, etc… And a huge love grows inside of you expecting nothing in return. The image of the two half hearts which put together make one heart means that we need someone to give in order to be able to experience love. To give is to love and to love is to give.
Most likely the other who experiences the receiving will want to give back and it will become a beautiful harmony of give and take, take and give. May we all be blessed to be able to experience the perfection of love as G-d intended it to be.
