The first step in combating our Yetzer Hara is to identify its voice.
The Yetzer Hara comes from our ego and there is nothing more that our ego likes to do but complain.
Whenever you begin thinking about what you are lacking go into high alert.
This does not mean that you can’t have legitimate wants, like: to get married, have children, to own a home, to have a good job, etc… in fact many of the blessings in the Shemoneh Esrei are requests for:healing, livelihood, redemption, etc…
However when you start complaining about other people, places, situations, etc… you have fallen into the hands of the Yetzer Hara.
So when you lament for what you don’t have and your eyes are focused on your lacks and not your blessings, the Yetzer Hara has taken hold of you.
Next time you begin complaining about something STOP press that red bottom and go on high alert. Immediately change the thought and begin counting your blessings and you will see how everything begins to change.
