The “Eishet Chayil” (Woman of Valor) is sang every Shabbat at the Friday night meal before making Kidush.
The husband takes this opportunity to praise his wife and thank her for everything she does for the family.
This beautiful song, written by King Salomon to his mother Batsheva, talks about a Super Woman who is tireless in her job as a wife, mother, employer, and her kindness can’t be surpassed.
“She is robed in strength and dignity, and she smiles at the future.” Not only she is on top of all her home needs but she is also optimistic of what H”S has in store for the future. She understands her role in this world and that it is crucial for the ultimate plan of H”S.
“Her children rise up and make her happy;her husband praises her.” She doesn’t see her children as a burden, she sees them as G-d’s children that are entrusted to her to raise up as good people “mentches” so they themselves can continue bringing the world to perfection.
“Grace is elusive and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears G-d…she shall be praised.
Give her credit for the fruit of her labors, and let her achievements praise her at the gates.”
The Jewish Woman is Everything, without her there is nothing. If not for her, where would we be? There would be no home, no family, no Jewish People. On Friday night she sits as the Queen of her table, while those around her sing her praises.
The Eishet Chayil is the one who sets the tone of her home with love, kindness, holiness, and personal growth for all those around her.
In the merit of the Women the world will be redeemed.
So for all those beautiful women out there, know that you are appreciated and valued. Your job is not an easy one, but it is crucial for the world and you are needed because no one else can do it but you.
For all the men out there, know that you would be nothing if not for the women in your life. Tell them you love them and appreciate everything they do. Take advantage tonight and praise them at your Shabbat Table.
