Some of us are born war …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

Some of us are born warriors; others prefer to pursue peace. Whatever your disposition is, remember that your worst enemy is yourself.
H”S created us with two souls. A G-dly Neshama and an Animal soul.
This animal within us is also known as our “yetzer hara,” and H”S put it within us for a few reasons. First of all, if we didn’t have this animalistic, instinctive nature inside we wouldn’t be able to survive in the material world. The G-dly soul is all spiritual and completely disattached from any materialism, desires, and mundane pleasures. If we didn’t have this yetzer hara we would die of hunger, cold, lack of sleep, etc…
But this yetzer hara also has a job to pull us down into the abyss of depressed thoughts, condemning words, and depraved actions.
H”S assigned it to do all this so we can have free will and have the choice to choose Him. When we choose H”S we attach ourselves to the light and all goodness, but that is 100% our choice.
The awareness of these duality within us is the first step to be able to control this force and be masters over our thoughts, speech, and actions.
The name given by H”S to Jacob after he fought the angel of darkness was “Yisrael,” which means “he prevailed.”
Our whole life is a constant battle between good and evil. In this world our choice is not between war and peace, but only between victory and defeat.
Every week I will be posting tools on how to fight this battle and hopefully you will emerge in your life as victors and not victims.
