Shavuah Tov!!! Wishing everyone a blessed week.
The Parasha of the week is “Ha’azinu” (Listen)
As in “Listen, O heavens, for I will speak! Let the earth hear the words of my mouth.” (Devarim 32:1)
The Midrash explains that Moshe was “close to the heavens,” so he told them to “listen”-a term which suggests a closeness between speaker and listener. But since he was “distant from the earth,” he told it to “hear,” from afar.
Chassidut teaches us that every Jew has a spark of Moshe within his soul, which allows him to attain, to some small extent, the greatness of Moshe. We all have within us an infinite potential if we get to work at it.
Although we are taught that the ultimate purpose of creation is to be found here on earth by “making a home for G-d bellow,” in this verse we are shown that it is also important to feel close to the heavens.
Acquiring a new talent is not the same as revealing an intrinsic talent. An acquired talent needs to be taught from scratch, it doesn’t come natural, on the other hand, if a person has an intrinsic talent, when he discovers it is as if he always knew.
The Soul literally is a part of G-d above, so for us to be close to heaven is not something that needs to be acquired, but merely uncovered.
Deep inside of us we know that we are down here because there is a purpose and a mission to fulfill, we are really not from here. We also know that our time is transient and short.
The problem is that sometimes we get distracted by the world and we loose track of the purpose, but then again and again we are reminded.
