Shavuah Tov! Wishing everyone a blessed, healthy, and joyful week.
Today we begin reading the last of the five books of the Torah “Devarim” (Deutoromy).
“These are the words which Moshe spoke to all the JEWISH People,”(Devarim 1:1),comes to teach us that words of Torah should always be looked upon as something new and exciting. When the Torah becomes something we learn and do by rote, something is wrong. Our Sages said: “they should be new in your eyes every day.”( Rashi to Devarim 26:16)
To maintain yourself an inspired Jew you must constantly hustle when you learn and try to incorporate the teachings of the Torah into your life by living Torah, not merely being a person full of information. This unprecedented change in your nature is the exact definition of a miracle.
You might be a reactive person, but Torah teaches us to be proactive people. To be able to master yourself you will need endurance and humility when learning Torah and keeping the Mitzvahs, and little by little being mindful and aware you will be able to reveal your innate capacity of control by thinking before you speak or act.
In order to help us perform this wonder on a daily basis,G-d gave us the gift of sleep. At first glance sleep appears to be a total waste of time when there is so much to achieve in a lifetime. But H”S created sleep for a purposeful reason. Sleep not only gives us hope, for as tough today was we always have tomorrow and the feeling it will be better, sleep also replenishes us and after a night sleep we feel like a new person.
Every day is a new beginning, try to see the world through the eyes of a child who is growing, learning, developing, and always has wonder and awe. Never loose your inner child, nourish him.
