Shavuah Tov!!! Wishing everyone a blessed and successful week.
This week we read Parashah “Beshalach”(sent away).
“And it was when Pharaoh sent the people, that G-d did not lead them through the land of the Philistines, for G-d said perhaps the people will regret and will return to Egypt.”(Shemot 13:17)
Why would the Jewish people want to return to Egypt? The place of their enslavement for 210 years.
They had seen and lived through the ten miraculous plagues, experiencing Divine Providence in the highest way, what scared them?
Rabbi Chasman explains that this can only be understood when we realize that a person is a mixture of a body and a soul. Even when a person has achieved a high spiritual level, he can fall back again. The Jews doubted their fate, they didn’t have Emunah and Bitachon (faith and trust)in G-d. This teaches us that we must constantly be training our faith muscle by praying daily, learning Torah, and doing Mitzvahs. Also by opening our eyes and connecting the dots in our lives by seeing H”S presence in every little moment and instant.
If we do fall, it is all right.
Rav Yehuda Leib says “we should never give up hope. If you can fall quickly, you can also pick yourself up very quickly. Never despair when you feel you are in a low level. If you sincerely try to climb the spiritual ladder, you have the ability to instantaneously put yourself back in the path of life.”
The Jews at that moment were insecure and felt worthless, nevertheless H”S kept pushing them to reach the promised Land.
