Shavuah Tov!!! Wishing all of you a beautiful and blessed week.
In this week’s Parashah “Beshalach” ( When he sent forth), referring how Pharaoh urged the Jewish people to leave Egypt after the devastating final plague, the death of the first born. Finally the Jewish people were free to go and serve H”S.
So I don’t understand! What is freedom? First they were slaves to Pharaoh and now they were going to be slaves to G-d. This is very confusing .
So first let us understand what is the whole purpose of creation. H”S created a world because He desired to make a dwelling place for Himself in the lower realms and be king. But to be a king you need subjects to follow you. This sounds very selfish .
Let’s go deeper into this. So H”S created the world with love and kindness. He has sooooo much to give and share, but He had no one to give to. According to Rabbi Jacob Hillel, this is precisely why He created the world. And the only way to share His wealth was through Torah and Mitzvahs because the true pleasure He feels through us we can only experience through His Torah.
So you see my friends, we are made up to be slaves of something. Either our jobs, our technical devises, toxic relationships, what others might think of us, the fashion, materialism, and the list goes on and on…..
But when we attach to G-d we become really free. Why? I’m not doing what I want, what makes me happy, or what I believe in.
Because when we go with H”S will we are really connecting to our essence, our true self and in this way we can really be free
As the saying goes “If you make H”S will your will, He will make His will your will,” it is one and the same.
It is easier to take the Jew out of Egypt than to take Egypt out of the Jew.
We are so addicted to our personalities, narrow visions and what we are used to that to be able to get rid of all these we need to empty ourselves and start a new.
Try shattering something in your life that has you bounded, a bad habit, a bad thought, a bad character trait… set yourself free.
