Shavuah Tov!!! Today is a very special day in many ways. We begin with Pesach Sheni. When the Jewish people offered the Pascual Sacrifice some were not able to do it because they were impure because they had been burying the dead. One month after Passover on the 14th of Iyar H”S gave them a second chance. So today there is a mitzvah to eat Matzah and think how kind H”S is that He never gives up on us.
It is written in the Zohar: “The Jewish people received illumination from above on the first night of Pesach. This illumination lasts for thirty days. After the thirty days there is an announcement in heaven “whoever has not received the illumination of Pesach can do so now on the 14th of Iyar.”
Also today we begin the fifth week of the counting of the Omer with the Sefira of Hod (humility). Today is the 29th day of the Omer with “Chesed Shebe Hod” (love and kindness in humility).
The Ramban teaches that at every moment a person should give thanks to H”S. Our humbleness is to recognize G-d’s kindness and love towards us and to always be grateful for His many blessings.
