Shavuah Tov! Rosh Chodesh Tov! Wishing everyone a blessed week and new month.
The month of Tamuz carries in itself the energy to rectify and refine the vision of the inner eye of our soul.
The tribe that rules this month is the tribe of Reuven, the first son of Yaacov and Leah. The name Reuven comes from the Hebrew root “re’eh” (to see).
Reuben’s capasity to see beyond his personal claim to the rights of the first born, which he lost when Rachel died and he moved his father’s bed to his mothers tent (which was completely out of place) and the firstborn rights were given to Yosef (His half brother). When Yosef was going to be killed by the brothers it was Reuven who saved him.
We live in a world of differentiation in which we are commanded to make distinctions between good and evil. Between the negative and the positive. It is our perception of the world which will determine our actions.
As psalm 34 says “turn from evil and do good…” it is not enough to turn away from evil, the only way we won’t go back is if we do good.
The organ or commander of this month is the right hand which represents giving with kindness. We need to learn how to choose good from bad but we also need to go and do kindness. It is through our inner sight and wisdom and understanding that we will be able to see the good and choose the good.
