Shavuah Tov everyone!! Wishing you a blessed week.
Today we count the 12 Day of the Omer with “Hod She Be Gevurah” (Humility within Discipline).
Intolerance and anger are UGLY. Bravery and courage are BEAUTIFUL.
To try to explain the Holocaust is impossible, but one thing is for sure, the intolerance and hatred that arose towards those who were not blond and blue eyed and the need to create the perfect Aryan race, drove masses of individuals to kill 6 million Jews and also 5’860,000 non Jews who perished in horrible ways in the hands of the Nazis because they didn’t fit their agenda.
We have seen throughout history and even in today’s world how prejudice and bigotry can really create so much hatred that horrendous and hideous acts are committed in the name of “ideals.” Let’s just take a look at college campuses today, where certain groups don’t allow others freedom of expression, but at the same time they make others only listen to them. And we see a whole new generation of young individuals who are steeped in so much hatred and violence, even if they are highly educated in the most prestigious Universities. What is going on here? Sadly if we don’t take the lessons learned from the past, history will repeat itself.
Hod She Be Gevurah addresses this problem. It shows as the Talmud says: “a person’s evil urge gets stronger every day. It would be impossible to overcome temptation without H”S help.”
If we try to live a little higher and place ourselves in the position in which we take full responsibility for our actions, trying to be an example of righteousness for others by also inspiring ourselves from people who are worthy to be emulated and we take that path , then we ourselves can also come to inspire those around us hopefully making them leaders themselves for others and so on. Be an influence for good, be a hero and inspire others to be heroes too. Remember that we are all responsible for one another.
