Shabbat is designed so your week to come be different. The energy of the week is fashioned on Shabbat.
“The people of Israel will take care of Shabbat to make the Shabbat.” (Shemot 31:15) we can understand the first part of this verse, but what does it mean “to make the Shabbat?”
Our sages teach that Shabbat in biblical language has two translations. The first one refers to the seventh day, called Shabbat. The second part refers to the entire week because we count each day like this “six days to Shabbat, five days to Shabbat, etc…” So now we understand that every day of the week is making Shabbat.
On Sundays already we should be doing something for Shabbat and successively every day of the week.
In this way we will infuse our whole week with purpose, meaning and sanctity.
