Shabbat is an island in time. From sundown Friday until nightfall Saturday, we transcend the worries and cares of the material life.
“Work,” as it relates to Shabbat, means to stop doing any creative work. For example:writing, cooking,
driving,talking on the phone,etc…
All these weekly activities are part of our material existence, but on Shabbat we disconnect so we can connect to the soul. Shabbat is the day “of the soul,”in which we experience delight of delights.
This switch called Shabbat takes us to a different realm of reality in which we are able to tune ourselves to the truth and purpose of our creation.
