Pesach is right around the corner and in preparation to the Holiday I would like to give you some food for thought.
Our mission in life is to transform the very nature of reality; in the words of the Midrash, to build “A dwelling place for G-d in the lower realms.” According to The Alter Rebbe in his Tanya, “is what man is all about; this is the purpose of his creation and the creation of all the worlds- that we transform the lower realms” into a place which will be receptive to the Divine truth; into a place where the goodness and perfection of G-d is “at home” (Tanya Ch 36).
The paradox is: are we ourselves part of this “lower realms” we are to transform? Or are we a step above them? The answer dwells in ourselves. We were made in the image of H”S, what that means is that we have an intrinsic capacity and potential to rise above the mundane world. If we get stuck in our tunnel vision view of the world we become bounded by these parameters and we become prisoners of our own perceptions, but if we are able to connect to a higher truth and transcend our limitations then we will be able to transform this world into a dwelling home for H”S where goodness supersedes reason and love will be above anything else. Only by letting go of our animalistic nature and our ego we will be truly free.
