Once there was a couple …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

Once there was a couple having marital problems, so they decided to go to the psychologist. After listening to them, the psychologist suggested that they should have one nice dinner a week, open a bottle of wine and eat by the light of candles. This should bring back the romanticism lost in the relationship and create a stress free environment for them to relax and enjoy each other.
H”S has already been suggesting this to us since the seventh day of creation in which He stopped all His creative work and brought rest to the world.
The Era of Redemption is referred to as “ the Day which is entirely Shabbat.”
It is the woman of the house who ushers in the atmosphere of Shabbat by lighting its Shabbat candles, the visible light which brings vision to the husband and children of why we are here. In a wider sense it allows us to ponder on how each Mitzvah we perform, such as a friendly word, visiting a sick person, helping someone economically or any other act of love and kindness increases the G-dly light within the world.
Although we are still in exile, the confidence that the Redemption is an imminent reality should inspire us with happiness and this happiness will create a ripple effect in the world in which people will understand that there is a destination and there is a road to be built so we can get there.
If we focus on the goal the journey won’t feel so long.
