On the 15th of Av, othe …

On the 15th of Av, otherwise known as Tu B’Av, we observe and celebrate a most joyous holiday. After mourning the destruction of our two Temples a few days ago, today comes with renewed joy and hope.
The Talmud describes how in ancient times this was a day devoted to matchmaking. This is because marriage represents the bounce back. Marriage means two people, a man and a woman, who are completely opposite one to the other, who make a commitment and build a home and a life together.
Our relationship with G-d is also comprised of both basic elements, commitment and love.
The Temple was destroyed because of baseless hatred caused by intolerance an lack of respect for others. These two components (tolerance and respect)are a must in a happy marriage, and although sometimes it’s hard to accomplish if we ponder and are appreciative of our better half we will see how he or she comes to complement us and are the catalyst for our own personal refinement.
B”H the day will come soon when we all dance at the big dance, when we can finally see the truth and the love that has always been there.
Today is also an auspicious date to pray for those who haven’t met their bashert (partners) yet, there are so many singles who need to find their better half. Please take time and pray for those in need.
