Moses told the Jewish people, “You must tithe all the produce of the seed that the field yields year by year.” (Devarim 14:29)
This verse instructs us to donate a portion of our income to tzedakah (charity).
The Sages pointed out the similarity of the Hebrew words for “tithe”(ta’aseir) and “become rich” (titasheir) alludes to the fact that G-d rewards those who give charity with abundant wealth.
If you look closely the people who give the most are the ones that have the most wealth, and its not because they have the most wealth that they give the most.
Some people think if I give I’ll have less, but Jewish tradition teaches us different, the more you give, the more you’ll have.
Furthermore, when we resolve to give tzedakah (which comes from the word tzedek ‘justice’), G-d grants us the wealth that is required in order for us to give the charity we have resolved to donate.
Halacha (Jewish law) commands us to give 10%of our earnings and we shouldn’t exceed 20%.
This 10% really doesn’t belong to us, we are the managers of G-d’s wealth in this world, and He entrusts us with it so we can distribute it in the best way possible.
